VA South Africa's flagship club chooses BOSE
The Virgin Active Classic Club at Melrose Arch is the first of a number of premium clubs set to be launched by Virgin Active across the country. The opening of the Melrose Arch club was a milestone in VA's progress here, and Virgin Group Chairman, Sir Richard Branson was on hand to perform the opening ceremonies.
Audio installation specialists company Audiotech, VA's preferred audio systems supplier, was briefed to supply the best possible sound and video technology in keeping with the status of the club. Audiotech chose BOSE systems throughout for their technological superiority and pleasing aesthetic design, using BOSE 802 and 404 loudspeakers in the Studios, Freespace 3 modules in the training areas, and weatherproof 302 models at the pool.
Melrose Arch, covering three floors, is double the size of any of VA's other seventy-six clubs, and the sound system needed to cater for different music sources to be routed to each area. In what was a first for this type of venue in South Africa, Audiotech used a SOUNDWEB digital signal processor at the heart of the Sound system, controlled from any PC
on the club's network. A custom written PC application, using Flash animation, provided staff with a graphical interface to the sound system, allowing staff to easily change music sources and volumes throughout the club.
According to Callan Sexton, manager of the Melrose Arch facility: ‘Audiotech has delivered audiovisual systems that match our expectations to provide our high-end clientele with exclusive surroundings in the highly aesthetic and advanced environment of the new Classic Club.'
Avitech Systems are proud to have been involved with the development of the interfacing and digital controls used in this prestigious contract.
